No matter WHAT industry you are in, you need to have a great profile and be active on LinkedIn.
After the Microsoft buyout was announced back in June of 2016, I’ve been keeping an eye on developments while tracking my own follower acquisition as well as new lead generation.
Back in June of last year, Business Insider quoted Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella.
"Think about it: How people find jobs, build skills, sell, market and get work done and ultimately find success requires a connected professional world. It requires a vibrant network that brings together a professional’s information in LinkedIn’s public network with the information in Office 365 and Dynamics. This combination will make it possible for new experiences such as a LinkedIn newsfeed that serves up articles based on the project you are working on and Office suggesting an expert to connect with via LinkedIn to help with a task you’re trying to complete.
I believe the LinkedIn platform will be a big part of how business is conducted as we move forward; those who understand and participate will benefit immensely...those that don’t...may find themselves left behind.
Here are a few simple and easy to execute strategies to make sure you get and stay ahead of the pack.
I recently upgraded to the Sales Navigator version ($79 per mo….save 20% if purchased 12 months at a time...I’m going month to month for now) of LinkedIn vs. free. I did this mainly to check out people who are viewing my profile and saving those who are potential clients or partners. Of the over 2,000 people viewing my profile over the past 90 days, there were quite a few I’m interested in building relationships with; and the Sales Navigator should help me be far more proficient at this than shooting from the hip as in years past.
Whether you are in sales, customer service, new product development etc. you will benefit from connecting with business people within and outside of your industry who may have answers, connections or products you are looking for.
In 2016 LinkedIn was responsible for generating 95% of our sales … and we had no real process in place to generate leads, we basically waited for people to come to us (BEAUTIFUL! Right?!).
In 2017 with the help of the new upgrades and tools LinkedIn has to offer, we are becoming much more informed and intentional about business relationship building and opportunity seeking.
Taking a few minutes each day to check your news feed, contribute with relevant information and updates when necessary; and actively look for people you can help and can help you can help you meet and exceed your goals in a much more effective way than going it alone.
