I like to hang out with peeps who Get Stuff Done! And I find that a BUNCH of people who fall into this category tend to be on LinkedIn.
According to a recent article in Social Draft ...
“As of 2016, there were over 467 MILLION LinkedIn users and is gaining an average of 2 members per second. If you think that these numbers are made up only of people who are established in business, think again. The fastest growing demographic group on LinkedIn is young people – more than 40 million students and recent grads are active on LinkedIn (It’s LinkedIn’s fastest-growing demographic). That means if you are trying to reach a younger demographic, LinkedIn works.”
“As of 2014, LinkedIn opened its publishing platform to everyone. Today, over 1 million people are using LinkedIn to establish themselves as experts and there are more than 130,000 posts published weekly. Because there is so much content, you need to be smart when using this LinkedIn feature.
On top of this, 71% of professionals feel that LinkedIn is a credible source for professional content. It makes sense why people use it for publishing.”
So how do you contribute in a meaningful way on LinkedIn Pulse?
“Make sure your content pushes the right buttons for your platform. On LinkedIn, for instance, well-written pieces with editorial standards are vital.
Be timely – and anticipate the issues that matter. Being first to know is a driving force in professionals’ relationship to content; being ahead of the curve on emerging issues and opinions is even better; 54% of professionals say they want to be the first to receive and share professional content that others might find useful.
Encourage your audience to go deeper. Once professionals start consuming content, they want more; 57% agree that “when I read, watch and/or listen to professional content, I often find myself looking for more professional content.” Help them with links back to more in-depth content on your website or company page.
Invite comments and invite shares. The credibility of professional content hits the next level when it starts being shared extensively on social media. Invite comments on LinkedIn and that credibility grows far faster.
Consider different types of professional content. The professional audience is broader than you think – and so is the content that they value receiving. Mine insights on what your key audience members need – and what they are currently reading.”
By keeping your eye on LinkedIn Pulse, you will become better educated as to trends and happenings within and outside of your industry; and by contributing information you believe to be helpful to others you will be giving back while building your network of potential clients, vendors and partners.
All in all, it’s a great place to be!
