Three Things You Can Start Doing On LinkedIn TODAY That Will Get You Noticed And Dramatically Increase Your Results

With as much information that is out there on training in usage of LinkedIn as a tool to develop relationships, find new opportunities, and acquire more clients, it floors me that I run across people every day with spammy or unprofessional ways of introducing themselves.
The following three tactics are incredibly simple and rudimentary, yet, believe it or not, by practicing these regularly you will come across as more professional than the vast majority of current users on LinkedIn.
When reaching out to connect with someone that is of interest to you … please, please, please do not send a generic LinkedIn reach out. Take the 60 to 90 seconds required to type out a couple of quick sentences about why you would be honored to add them to your LinkedIn network. Trust me when I say it makes all the difference in the world.
You can say something like …
“Hi, Jim I've been following your posts and commentary for quite some time and really enjoy your insights on the financial services industry. I see that we have a number of viewpoints (mention industry, groups, school experience etc.) in common and I would be honored to have you join my network here on LinkedIn.”
You can also take a look at who is viewing your profile. Are these people that fit your client avatar? If so, then reach out with a message to connect or Inmail to the effect of ...
“Hi Robert, I see you stopped by my profile yesterday. Is there anything that I can help you with?”

And finally, (the Mack Daddy of them all) if someone is reaching out to you wanting to connect and his or her profile looks legitimate and interesting, they have 200 + connections, a profile picture, and they appear to be someone that you would like to get to know, you can follow up with something like …
“Sure, Shannon I am always looking to grow my network and build quality connections, thanks for reaching out what can I do for you?”
When I use this fast and simple outreach, the response back rate is right around 95%.
So be sure to use it only with people you genuinely want to strike up a conversation with.
Keep these simple things in mind as you maneuver and interact on LinkedIn. The community and ultimately your bottom line will thank you.
