If you have ever taken yourself from a dark place, back onto a light filled path then you my friend have the power of the Phoenix inside you.
The fable goes something like this...
In the midst of the great war for Stone Forge Kingdom, the Phoenix Prince rises from the ashes of battle. It was centuries ago that this great Prince fell in battle himself, but it was prophesied that he would return in a time of need. Clad in armor of crimson feathers and burning steel, the Prince rises to the sky in plume of smoke as the attacking armies stand in awe. Only too late do the forces of darkness realize that they'd best retreat, as the Phoenix Prince prepares a fire attack of unparalleled might.
Finding your strength during difficult times can seem insurmountable. But (You know this.) it is not. You do not rise from the depths to soaring in one motion, but rather in many small and seemingly insignificant actions which brings you forward towards the life you truly wish to create for yourself.
If you find yourself facing serious challenge, I offer a few tried and true remedies that I myself have used to crawl, walk, run, jump, leap and bound my way back to the path of light. I offer them to you, knowing that if you practice them, you are quite likely to achieve similar results :)
Surround yourself only with positive influences. People, music, movies etc., eliminate negativity in all areas of your life. This especially includes your own self talk. If you find your internal dialog less than uplifting then just state the word "next" when something less than desirable comes up, pretty soon you will have trained your brain to "get over it", stop being a drama queen and leave you alone. Getting your internal dialog aligned with what you'd like your external life to be is key!
Limit or eliminate watching TV (vegging out to escape) Especially the news which is one massive drama after another. Most of which you are not able to influence anyway. This is time to focus your energy on building you up not sucking you down into the woes of the planet.
Actively seek positive influences EVERY DAY. Mentors, books, podcasts, movies, documentaries, anything that offers inspiration, hope and encouragement. I still do this daily and have no plans to ever stop.
Take things minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day. Be gentle with yourself. You do not have to turn your entire life around in 24 hours. You won't. Be patient with yourself and the process. Consistent, baby steps will get you there.
