Have you ever glanced across the room and seen someone you love or are attracted to and feel your heart just give a little sigh or skip a beat?
What about when that someone touches you? How about when a special someone walks in the room and the whole place just seems to light up.
What is up with that?
Are these physical feelings triggered by emotion? Is is all in your head? Well according to current research you are actually "feeling" that person's energy, their heart energy.
According to the HeartMath study...
"The heart’s electromagnetic field contains certain information or coding, which researchers are trying to understand, that is transmitted throughout and outside of the body. One of the most significant findings of IHM’s research related to this field is that intentionally generated positive emotions can change this information/coding.
That discovery raises the question whether the cardioelectromagnetic field information transmitted from an individual who is angry, fearful, depressed or experiencing some other negative emotion, takes on beneficial properties when it is influenced by positive emotions. Also, is the care, compassion, love or other positive emotion not only transmitted throughout an individual’s body as the cardioelectromagnetic field radiates through it, but transferred externally as well to people in close proximity or even, perhaps, over long distances?"
So if someone who has an open, loving, joyful heart approaches you and you are open to receive it (This is key IMHO, if you are not open, you won't be feeling anything.), you feel better by assimilation and your health & wellbeing is improved in the process? Perhaps.
According to the Harvard School of Public Health...
"In a 2007 study that followed more than 6,000 men and women aged 25 to 74 for 20 years, for example, she found that emotional vitality—a sense of enthusiasm, of hopefulness, of engagement in life, and the ability to face life’s stresses with emotional balance—appears to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. The protective effect was distinct and measurable, even when taking into account such wholesome behaviors as not smoking and regular exercise."
We all know that we should eat well and exercise in order to care for our hard working and beautiful hearts, but how much emphasis do we put on the focus of being happy, loving, open and joyous?
The next time you come across someone who makes you feel this way, maybe it would be a good idea to ask them what lights them up. Where do they find their joy? What makes them happy?
In my humble opinion, happy is a choice and as we learn more about the interconnectivity of our various organs as well as connections to each other, it's becoming more apparent that choosing happy has a not only a profound impact on the quality of your life but your health as well.
